Received an advanced reader’s copy from Net Galley for an honest review:
It appears that most of the writers I have chosen to read lately have a compelling true story to tell. Â Unfortunately, it pains me to say, most deal with horrible atrocities against people who need protection and these atrocities eradicated from society. Â However, it appears some atrocities such as pedophile, incest rape, child sexual abuse, and child abuse, have serious and long-term psychological trauma on the victim and is never really spoken about or treated. Â Jessica gives us insight into the emotional consequences of one of her characters. Â It may be a difficult read for someone who has encountered child abuse in their lives. Â Although, well written with emotional caring the story hit me with a stick, it poked me, inspired me to want to do more for those who have suffered at the hands of others, could just be all my Psychology classes talking. Â Forgotten Promises is not your typical love story with a happy ending but more of a real-life story in progress.
Overall rating is 5 stars!
