This is Living by Melody Dawn

Crystal Snyder, thank you for introducing me to this promising, young writer.

“This is Living”, is Melody’s second published book, and I have to say she doesn’t shy away from difficult or taboo subjects.

Jayson and Chloe’s story may seem all too familiar a young married couple trying to make a go of things, working hard, building a family, a life together. When having dreams, career, and being able to support and protect your family is your goal in life. Family can and often does become last on the list of priorities. What makes this story different than the others; family means something to this couple, and they are willing to make the sacrifices to put family first.

Unfortunately, in today’s society we see or hear about more women having miscarriages, and yet we never mention the repercussions that this event can have on the woman or their partner. I appreciated Melody Dawn bring this to the forefront in her story of surviving a loss such as this and giving the name of “Angle Baby.”

You may think this is a sobbing fest. However, it’s anything but sobbing, can’t say you will not cry, it’s emotional but, in the end, you may just find yourself smiling, I know I did!ToLiveAgainPurchase Link:  Amazon Universal Link: http://getbook.at/ThisIsLiving

Fated by AS Roberts

It was an honor and pleasure to read the debut from A.S. Roberts, Fated.
The story a young woman named Frankie Jones who has had a bad beginning, her mom, Karen took no interest in her other than what Frankie could do for her. Frankie was taken in by her Aunt and Uncle, her father’s brother, they had one son, James. James and Frankie were thick as thieves, more brother, and sister than first cousins. Despite Frankie’s difficult up bring and her losses, she became a British physiotherapist who decides to take a job of a lifetime. Frankie relocated over the pond to New York City; her patient Superbike rider, Nathan Blackmore.

Nathan Blackmore’s brother is none other than Alexandar James (Jabby) Blackmore, CEO, Alpha-Male, Ex-Military. The oldest son of three boys and a stepsister. The Blackmore brothers had their share of hell on earth dealing with an overbearing, controlling stepfather.

“A person’s strength isn’t shown by how much they can take before they break. A person’s strength is shown by how much they can take after they have already been broken.” X

As a first time author, AS Roberts has included every emotion in her first book, happiness, sadness, silliness, envious, elation, and let’s not forget about the sex.

Unassumingly relatable steeps into your heart, soul and mind. A must read by a new talented author.db25a-hardcover2bbook2b

PROLOGUE

6 years previously
What sort of person isn’t able to attend the funeral of their only parent of any consequence? Me, I was that sort of person. I had suffered a sort of breakdown, the doctors concurred. Emotional stress and exhaustion they called it. Pathetic my mother called it.
I was standing finally on very sodden soil, constantly having to move my feet, listening to the repetitive squelching noise my black boots made in contact with the mud. I
repeated the movement over and over, in order to stop them being consumed into
the ground. The very ground that now held my dad. All the while I was struggling to choke back the tears which threatened to fall.  Continuously I rubbed my hands together, to
keep them warm. Although it was August, the weather was obviously empathetic and had the same thoughts and emotions as me. The skies continued to darken over and the rain fell in a heavy, sluggish drizzle.I was finally here, wrapped in a heavy coat and my own grief. Audibly sighing, my eyes ran over and over the words on the headstone.

But there was no mention of me on there, his only child. In the world of my stepmother I didn’t exist. She hadn’t given birth to me, so therefore I was insignificant. I caught my breath, trying to swallow a gulping sob. I conjured up picture memories in my head. At least he had finally managed to tell me he loved me, even if it was only the once, and on his death bed. I looked up to the sky and watched the clouds travel unhurriedly overhead. Closing my eyes, the droplets fell; they hit my face and grouped together, finally running down my neck in rivulets. The sadness I felt was completely overwhelming. Never be the unwanted pregnancy of two people who hate each other’s guts, would be my advice to anyone. From behind me two hands came forward. They gently rubbed up and down my arms, trying to formulate a soothing sensation ‘Sweetheart, you know we are here for you, don’t you?’
The gentle voice of my aunt came through to me. I turned to her, my aunt and uncle
swaddled me up in their arms. There we stood, clustered together for several minutes.
‘Come on, Frankie,’ I heard my cousin JJ speaking and as my aunt and uncle pulled away from me, he took their place and pulled me in tight against his side. ‘Let’s go home.’
I managed a fragile smile in answer, staying as close to him as was possible, wrapping my arm tight around his waist. JJ gave me the strength I had always felt I lacked.
I was so pleased he had come back from America. His presence here today meant everything to me. I was last to walk down the well-worn path to the front door of my aunt and uncle’s small, but very homely, terraced house. The old wooden gate shut with a bang behind us. Flexing and contracting on its very antique, rusted spring.
‘Frankie love.’ The raised voice of our next-door neighbour, broke me out of my
melancholy thoughts. I raised my eyes from the cobbled path. She came out of her front door quickly; obviously she had been awaiting our return, twitching the net curtains. Her arms were laden. ‘These came for you, my dear.’ She handed me a large, beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers, the colours of which seemed like a rainbow on such a wet day. Her face showed concern for my obviously distressed appearance. She ran her hand fleetingly up and down my arm. ‘Oh thank you, Norah’ I took the bouquet from her. Puzzled as to where they had come from, I pulled the card from the small envelope and started to read.
A person’s strength
isn’t shown by how much they can take before they break.
A person’s strength is
shown by how much they can take after they have already been broken.

I’ve dreamed of writing my whole life and would often pen short stories as a child. Unfortunately, life took over and reading and writing were forced to take a back seat for the last few years. Indigo Nights by Louise Bay

Indigo NightsIndigo Nights by Louise Bay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Received an ARC for an honest review.
Beth Harrison’s introduction is “What the Lighting Sees,” through her brother Jake Harrison. We know that Beth has some issues with her mother’s death, her father’s new life, the recent breakup of her relationship, and her addiction to alcohol. We catch up a little in “Calling Me Series,” Beth is working on her recovery as well as her baking.
Indigo Nights, Beth gets an opportunity to star in her show baking as she has in her YouTube videos, only hitch the location is back in Chicago. On her way to Chicago, she meets tycoon, Dylan James, who invites her to the best sex she ever had. Beth returns the favour but adds the cake, nothing better than sex and cake.

Throughout the book Beth is concerned with her sobriety and recovery but not about learning to live in this new life without alcohol. While most books state it’s a work of fiction, there is some truth to behold. Most people I have met in a twelve step programs worry about recovery they have no idea how to live in their new world without their vice. Therefore, the urgent need to use again when stuff gets real, relapse is always a possibility. Which is one of the many reasons why I freaking love Louise Bay writings. She seems to write from the heart with the knowledge of real live $hite.

Dylan

“I understood the dynamic between men and women. I got to sleep with hot women, and in exchange they got to fuck a rich guy in the hope that they’d become beneficiaries of my cash. I might be handsome, but I knew from bitter experience that if a richer guy came along, I’d be left in the taillights of the women I slept with. It just happened that now, there weren’t many richer men, which gave me a certain satisfaction. I’d made peace with the transactional nature of relationships between men and women and had no expectations. At some point in my past I’d thought that love was possible. Not anymore. It was all about giving to get.”

About The Author

louise

USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful and Hopeful and the novella series’ The Empire State Series, What the Lightning Sees and Calling Me. The novels and together each series are stand-alone although there are some overlapping characters.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.

Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!

ToLiveAgain

The first time Jayson Reece saw Chloe Schaeffer, he knew she would be his forever. He promised her then that he would show her how to live rather than just letting life pass her by. Now, 9 years later, they’ve had the storybook romance, a picture perfect wedding, and two twin boys to complete the family they always wanted.

But something is missing…

With two rambunctious boys, Chloe decides to be a stay-at-home mom until the boys are old enough to go to school. So, with her dreams of being a social worker put on hold, she throws everything she has into being the perfect mother and wife.

Jayson has a very demanding career as an Emergency Room physician. He tries to balance out his workload and that of being a family man, but lately his job has come first. Is he beginning to lose focus on the things that are most important to him?

Will Chloe’s drive for perfection and the challenges of Jayson’s career drive them apart? Or will they realize that love creates the perfection she desires and the balance he needs to keep his family together?

There’s only one thing left to do. Jayson needs to renew his promise to Chloe and she needs to trust Jayson to get them back to where they belong.

A place where living and loving is required…those only wanting to exist need not apply.

Chloe

Walking up to the nurse’s station, I see Tanya, one of the nurses that has been in the ER as long as Jayson has been here for his residency. We have gotten to know each other and she loves my babies. And they love her too. Braxton sees her first and takes off running while screaming her name. I chase after him, but damn, he is getting faster each day…they both are. He reaches the desk before I do, but it’s ok because she has already come out from behind it and grabs him up.

“Hey B-man, what’s up? Give Aunt Tanya a hug and give me some dirt on your daddy so I can blackmail him next time he’s mean to me.”

I don’t think he knows what dirt or blackmail means, but he shakes his head yes and laughs anyway. By this time, Brendon has reached her also and she is hugging him to her although he remains on the ground. Not missing a beat she grins at Brendon with her next words.

“There is my second little man. How are you, sweet cheeks?”

Like clockwork, Brendon gives her a pointed look and says, “I was born first, Aunt Tanya, I’m #1.”

She laughs while I shake my head because I have definitely heard this refrain before and from another set of twins: their dad and their uncle. Thank god, he isn’t saying he’s sexy or has got all the goods. I’m waiting for that day to happen. Please god let it be when he’s at least a teenager. Somehow I know it won’t be because Jayson and Connor still don’t have a filter even after having kids. They try to be stealthy about it, but they don’t get it that kids hear everything.

With all the commotion going on, I happen to notice another nurse behind the counter, one that I’m not familiar with. She is watching me like I’m going to whip out a weapon or something…I’m not sure. Something about her makes me wary of the way she is watching us.

I focus on her nametag and it says Melissa. Mentally, I roll my eyes in disgust because it is very close to another name from the distant past that I don’t want to remember at all. She hasn’t taken her eyes off of the scene in front of her and it looks like she is annoyed. The more she stares, the more I become upset. What the hell is this witch’s problem?

Tanya notices that my attention is elsewhere and looks to see what has me preoccupied. When she sees who I’m staring at, she grimaces in disgust. What is that about? Melissa’s stare makes me feel exposed so I grab Brendon up and tell Tanya that I’m looking for Jayson. I see the new nurse jerk her head up again when I say Jayson’s name. What happens next floors me.

“Why are you looking for Dr. Reece? Is there something I can help you with?”

I blink rapidly and feel my breathing increase. Tanya notices my reaction and jumps to the rescue.

“Melissa, this is Jayson’s wife, Chloe, and his sons. Of course, if you can’t see who these two belong to, then your powers of observation are way off and you don’t belong in the ER where those skills are necessary for patients to be treated successfully.”

Ha ha, go Tanya! Melissa, who I’ve started calling the fucking bitch nurse in my mind sniffs and rolls her eyes. “Whatever…I was just trying to be helpful.” As she walks away, my temper gets the best of me and I mutter quietly, “fucking bitch.”

Tanya smothers a laugh because evidently I didn’t do it quietly enough. Braxton’s eyes get big and he tells me, “Mama, you hab to put money in the jar.” Oops. I thought I said it where they couldn’t hear. Now, I will never hear the end of it.

Unfortunately my boys are well acquainted with swearing and yes, we do have a swear jar.  Since their dad, their uncle, and their cousin, Brayden, can’t clean up their mouths, I figured out a way to make some money which I can use to get my mani/pedis, waxes, and my hair done. Not that Jayson would deny me these things; I just enjoy holding it over their heads how much money I make off of them because these guys swear…a lot.

I grin to myself when I think of my money making enterprise. It’s all good…sometimes I think they swear more just so I will make a big deal and fuss about it. I keep telling Jayson he is going to regret it when one of their teachers calls us about the boys using bad language. God, I guess soon my boys will be putting money in the swear jar!

As for me, I am usually more reserved than this and wait to have my swearing fits behind a locked bathroom door where the boys can’t hear me. Crap; I know they are going to tell their dad. How can I get out of this? I reach into my mom’s arsenal and pull out bribery…shut up, you would do it too.

“Mama didn’t mean it; I shouldn’t have said that. Let’s not tell anyone, ok. How about I take y’all to get ice cream when we leave here?”

Jesus, am I really bargaining with two toddlers? Yes, I am because I need my record to stay intact. Or I will never hear the end of it. I see Tanya’s mouth twitching and give her an elbow to the ribs. She just rolls her eyes and whispers, “You know they are going to tell.”

They probably are, but more important things are going on. Right now, I am focusing on the beautiful man in scrubs headed my way. He hasn’t seen me yet but I know when he does, his panty-melting smile is going to spread across his face.

He looks up at that moment and sees me and the boys and guess what, I’m right…there is the smile. I smile back instantly and the boys soon see who has my attention. They take off running screaming “Daddy” and I know he knows they are there because even when they slam into him, he keeps smiling at me.

“Wow, I think I’m going to get pregnant just looking at you two.”
