Before Us by Jewel E. Ann is now live!

I never saw him coming.

I didn’t know what would happen after my client found me sleeping in my car.

I’d been cleaning his house as his wife was dying.

I didn’t expect them to invite me to live with them.

I didn’t expect Suzie to become my lifeline—until she was gone.

I didn’t expect him to ask me to marry him when he found out I needed medical insurance.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with a grieving man.

There are so many reasons to keep my distance from Zach. Every tender moment secreted away.

When we’re not together, I miss the man I call husband.

Does he miss his wife? If so, which one?

My Review: ????? Before Us by Jewel E. Ann is an emotional story that will have you crying one minute and laughing the next. What happens when you open a book and immediately connect with the story’s characters? Well, it means you are in for one heck of a ride, so hold on, get your stuff ready, the coffee brewing, or the tea steeped, grab the tissue, and settle in for the ride of your life. Emersyn Jane Clarke is twenty-three years old with a fine arts degree and student loans to prove it, along with a neurological disorder-epilepsy and has medical debt because of it; she is a homeless woman living in her car but cleaning houses as a way to make some money. Suzanne and Zackery Hays are an older couple struggling with a second round of cancer. Suzanne, thirty-eight, a flight assistant, had a double mastectomy, radiation, and chemo, but cancer reappeared, and she underwent another surgery, but they weren’t as successful this time. Zack, thirty-three, pilot, hopelessly devoted to being a husband for his wife. He hires Emersyn to clean his house; they got much more than a maid. Every time I read Jewel E. Ann, I come away with a new perspective on life, love, and what it means to be a good human. Some quotes from this story touch my heart and soul. “Soulmates are not Sole Mates. Without one, we are not alone. Many souls feed our own.” Humans are interchangeable puzzle pieces; we fit into more than one space.” “Friends don’t fall in love with friends’ husbands.” “The most complicated relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself. We are our own greatest mystery, our own biggest challenge.” “Life isn’t a quest to find ourselves; it’s a quest to define ourselves.” I adored this story and couldn’t put it down; it will stay with me for a long time, just like Jewel’s other stories that have stayed in my mind and nuzzled into my heart.
