Misadventures with a Professor by Sierra Simone

Zandy Lynch never planned on going to grad school a virgin. So when her professor father finds her a job abroad as a research assistant the summer before she starts her master’s program, she sees her chance. She’s got one night in London to lose her V-card to a Mr. Darcy lookalike before she has to join some ancient professor in the country.
Oliver Graeme is not looking forward to having some American co-ed hovering around while he’s trying to work, but he owes her father the favor, and besides, his office is an untidy mess of uncatalogued research. He needs the help. Still, he decides to take the edge off his frustration while visiting a colleague in London, and winds up having the sexiest, sweetest night of his life with a stranger, who vanishes in the morning without a trace…

To Zandy’s shock when she arrives at Professor Graeme’s house a day later, the door isn’t opened by a fussy old scholar, but by the wild, passionate man she met in London. Cold and reserved by day, Oliver is ferociously greedy with her at night, and it’s not long before Zandy finds herself falling for both versions of him—the aloof professor and the generous, rough lover. The trouble is that summer only lasts so long, and Zandy already has a plane ticket waiting to take her home…

Quick, Fun, dirty novella written by the connoisseur of kink. One night stands are never better than one written by the queen of carnal fornication Sierra Simone.  Although is one is a novella it’s huge on the things that matter the most.

Heartbreak Warfare by Heather M. Orgeron & Kate Stewart

LIVE-3

Briggs,

Remember when we parted ways in Germany? It was the day I broke your heart. What you didn’t know was that I was breaking mine too.

I thought they’d be enough–my husband and my son. That I’d get home and everything would go back to the way it was . . .

Before the war.
Before the ambush.
Before you.

But, no matter how hard I try, I can’t erase the trauma we shared. I can’t seem to forget the way my heart beat in time with yours.

I thought the nightmare was over when they pulled us from that hole in the ground, but nothing could have prepared me for the war I’d face at home.
I know it’s selfish of me to ask, but, please, I have to see you one last time. . .

About the Authors:

Heather

Heather M. Orgeron is a Cajun girl with a big heart and a passion for romance. She married her high school sweetheart two months after graduation and her life has been a fairytale ever since. She’s the queen of her castle, reigning over five sons and one bossy little princess who has made it her mission in life to steal her Momma’s throne. When she’s not writing, you will find her hidden beneath mounds of laundry and piles of dirty dishes or locked in her tower(aka the bathroom) soaking in the tub with a good book. She’s always been an avid reader and has recently discovered a love for cultivating romantic stories of her own.

KateStewart-AuthorPhoto2 A Texas native, Kate Stewart lives in North Carolina with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. She pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it’s what she loves as a reader. Kate is a lover of all things ’80s and ’90s, especially John Hughes films and rap. She dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity, and on occasion, does very well at whisky.

My Review:

I was introduced to Kate Stewart’s work earlier this year and had the privilege of meeting her in person at an intimate event, and then again at a signing, Books by the Bridge in NYC. BTW Kate is personable, very talented, funny, humble and downright all around awesome, just saying. At this time she mentioned she was working on a project with Heather and was looking forward to seeing our reactions. When the time came for cover release, I was floored and thought OMG am I going to be able to read this Military romance without crumbling into a ball of snot rocking back and forth, having a psychotic episode.

You see after September 11, 2001; everything changed in the Northeast part of the United States. My backstory, I worked for Merrill Lynch at World Financial Center, 18th floor, the south tower, as an Employee Benefits Specialist. Merrill Lynch reorganized corporate structure and moved my department to Hopewell, New Jersey on July 22, my last day in NYC was Friday, July 20th, just six weeks before this life-altering event that has changed our World in which we live in today. Nine Eleven affected me in more ways than I care to think about or remember, please keep this in mind when reading my review.

ARC’s were released yesterday, not remembering my earlier thoughts when the cover was released, I was excited to download and start my epic journey.

Immediately, I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading. My emotions were all over the place; Proud of a woman joining the Army, becoming a medic. Then saddened Kate was leaving her life as a wife and mom behind to serve her country overseas in a war zone. Suddenly worried when she went off base, to horrified and tortured wondering if she was going to survive her ordeal. The unease I felt was nothing compared to what Kate had suffered during her time aboard and upon her return home. There are two Kate’s before the war, and after the war, both are the same in ways a loving woman, mother, and sister but opposite in others ways, a hot mess ready to explode at any sudden noises.  As a reader, I often find myself torn between two men in the story, hoping the right man to win the girl, in this story, I’m rooting for Kate to survive and come out the other side. Huge difference.
Also, the authors pulled no punches when it came time to yank the emotional ties that bind us all together. Heartbreak Warfare is a phenomenal work of fiction, but please keep in mind that twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day and those people are who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. As we approach Veteran’s Day, please be thankful and mindful to those who have served our Country.

We are so excited to share this amazing cover for

Briggs,

Remember when we parted ways in Germany? It was the day I broke your heart.
What you didn’t know was that I was breaking mine too.

I thought they’d be enough–my husband and my son. That I’d get home and
everything would go back to the way it was . . .

Before the war.
Before the ambush.
Before you.

But, no matter how hard I try, I can’t erase the trauma we shared. I can’t seem to
forget the way my heart beat in time with yours.

The truth is I’m lost without you.

I thought the nightmare was over when they pulled us from that hole in the ground,
but nothing could have prepared me for the war I’d face at home.
I know it’s selfish of me to ask, but, please, I have to see you one last time. . .

All my love,
Scottie

EXCERPT:
“I need you to break my heart,” she declares, wringing her hands nervously. “Give
me a reason to hate you, because wanting you this way is…it’s ruining me. It’s
ruining my life.”

She is dead serious.
Lifting her chin, as if ready to take a blow, her turbulent eyes implore mine. “Tell me
about them. Tell me about all of the women you’ve been with since Germany.”

“No.” I shake my head. “Hell no.”

“Oh, please, Briggs. How long did you wait? A few days?” She laughs sarcastically. “I
bet you didn’t even make it a day.”

She’s coming out guns blazing, and I can see it’s physically killing her to do it.

“Are we playing the guessing game? Do I get to ask how many times you’ve fucked
your husband?”

“Sure,” she says with a shrug. “We’ll trade. You go first.”

She’s bluffing, and I’m calling her on it.

“Don’t do this, Scottie. You don’t really want to hear about that.”

“Humor me, Briggs.” Her eyes plead with mine. “I need to hear this.”

“Fine. You want the truth?”

She nods.

“Complete honesty?”

Again, she bobs her head.

She stands stock-still as I pace the small room, feeling the blood begin to boil
beneath my overheated skin.

Fuck it.
I stalk back toward her, stopping inches away. “You really want to know that there
have been so many that I’ve lost count? How they’re all blondes with blue eyes? But
the blue, it’s never right, and their smiles—all wrong.”

She swats at the fresh tears that trail down her cheeks as her lips begin to tremble.
Reaching out, she places a hand on my chest, and I know that she must feel the way
my heart is pounding against my rib cage, reaching for her. Always reaching for her.

I jerk myself away and brand that touch to memory.

In about forty-five seconds, my heart is going to implode. I start ticking them
down.

“You want me to tell you all about how I have to drink myself stupid, till their faces
blur enough that I can pretend…” I pause running a hand down my face. “So that I
can pretend they’re you? You want to know how fucking miserable I am? How when
I slide between their legs, I close my eyes, and it’s your face I see? How I’m always
careful not to kiss them because their lips are all wrong. How every time I finish I

want to fucking kill myself, because I can’t stand the pain of wanting the one woman
I can never have.”

Thirty seconds.

“Is that enough?” Her eyes snap to mine. “Hate me yet?”

Face crumbling, she gasps out a sob, wrapping her arms around her shoulders.

“Come on, Scottie. Let’s not kid ourselves. I’m still the same prick you hated when
we met. Nothing’s changed. I think we’ve romanticized this situation long enough,
don’t you?”

Taking another step away from her, I tilt my head. “You’re a housewife,” I say
snidely. “Someone else’s wife and I’m a career soldier. This isn’t exactly ideal.”

She flinches visibly, and my heart bottoms out.

Fifteen.

I cut my hand through the air. “At the end of the day, this was nothing but a big
mistake. And we never would have happened if—”

“Stop,” she cries out painfully, “stop, I’m good,” she whispers before rocketing
toward the door just as I reach for her, my fingers curling in the space she just left.
Handle in hand, she looks back at me with the sweep of her eyes until they meet
mine. That’s how we started, and it’s only fitting it’s how we should end. For the
moment, we’re right back there in the place we created, where we are perfect.
Where our souls line up without any visible smudge on the seams. In a place where
there is still so much love, so much that I can’t stop the tear that slides out before
batting it away with the back of my hand.

An identical tear runs down her cheek. “Thank you.”

Medicine Man by Saffron A. Kent

unnamed (1)Willow Taylor lives in a castle with large walls and iron fences. But this is no ordinary castle. It’s called Heartstone Psychiatric hospital and it houses forty other patients. It has nurses with mean faces and techs with permanent frowns.

It has a man, as well. A man who is cold and distant. Whose voice drips with authority. And whose piercing gray eyes hide secrets, and maybe linger on her face a second too long.

Willow isn’t supposed to look deep into those eyes. She isn’t supposed to try to read his tightly leashed emotions. And neither is she supposed to touch herself at night, imagining his powerful voice and that cold but beautiful face.

No, Willow Taylor shouldn’t be attracted to Simon Blackwood, at all.

Because she’s a patient and he’s her doctor. Her psychiatrist.

The medicine man.

WARNING: This book discusses sensitive issues including but not limited to, depression and suicide.

For me, this was one of the most antipated books for the year written by one of my favorite authors and was so thrilled to be granted an advance readers copy (ARC). The story is forbidden between a doctor and his patient not just any doctor but a Psychiatrist.  The story was slow to start however stay with it and soon all the vagueness becomes clear, some questions become clearer as you get further into the story.  Parts of this story is heart-wrenching, blubbering emotional mess, others are enlightenment and hopeful. I’m sure most people with have issues with this type of story, I’m happy it was written because there was a story behind and it needed to be written, not just for shits and giggles or shock and awe. However, you be the judge, read at your own risk.

Erotic Romance

Blurb:
New royal novella from Gigi Thorne.
Luke
Suffering due to sins of the father is typically how it goes, but as the son of a
predatory and entitled mother, I’d fallen victim to the consequences of her
indiscretions.

Her deathbed confession revealed my darkest secret. At my lowest point, I shared it
with the two people I trusted the most.

It proved to be my biggest mistake.

For the last five years, I’d watched the woman I love reign with a man I despised. He
stole my life, she allowed it, and I was about to make them both pay.

The only way to bring down a king is by stealing his queen.

Sarafina
Five long years without a single look my way. Luke believed that I’d betrayed him
and I’d suffered in silence while he’d torn me apart with his playboy ways.

Set on vengeance, he refused my truth but not without doling out punishment I
couldn’t resist. Little did he know I had plans of my own—if he’d only let me get
close enough.

Lydia Michaels

I feel the need to tell you all about this amazing woman.

Lydia

We met in person about a year ago at a signing, I was embarrassed about meeting her without reading her work. However, she took her time to tell me about her work and asked a lot of questions about what I liked to read. My journey started with SACRIFICE OF THE PAWN and continued on from there and I still haven’t read everything she has written, she is so prolific! When I say no two books are alike I mean it, she writes everything, no holds bar! She makes you feel all the emotions and makes you laugh out loud, the best way to describe it, she makes you live your life to the fullest, whether it’s in her books or meeting her personally, she gives you her all, every time, every day,and with every book.

Izzy As Is by Tracie Banister

The party is over for bikini model Izzy Alvarez. For six years she’s made a good living by flaunting her God-given assets on runways and in front of cameras, but now as she approaches the big 3-0, the bodacious Latina is shocked to learn she’s aged out of the profession that’s kept her in mojitos, mani/pedi’s, and designer thongs. What’s a girl with a taste for the finer things in life and no marketable skills to do?

Getting a regular job is too boring to even consider, so Izzy decides to follow in the footsteps of her newly-engaged frenemy and become a trophy wife. Although she’s desperate and too broke to get a chipped nail fixed, Izzy still has standards for her future husband, which means no uggos, no vertically-challenged guys, and no geezers who need to pop a blue pill to perform in the bedroom. Enlisting the aid of her computer whiz nephew and her closest pals, Izzy goes on the prowl for a rich, marriage-minded man, encountering likely candidates in a lot of unlikely places.

The high life she’s dreamed of may be within reach when Izzy meets a charming, successful man who’s not only hotter than a steamy summer night in Miami but ready to settle down. Now all Izzy has to do is make sure her loud, crazy Cuban family doesn’t scare off el hombre perfecto—oh, yeah, and squelch those pesky, romantic feelings she keeps having for the sweet, cash-strapped guy she’s known forever.

Will Izzy’s hunger for money win out, or will her fiery heart demand to be heard?

About the Author: Tracie Banister

An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O’Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play that she penned (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she, also, starred in and tried to direct the production.) Her dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a “real” job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, Tracie decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. Her debut novel, the Hollywood-themed BLAME IT ON THE FAME, was released in January, 2012. And she’s following that up with the fun summer read, IN NEED OF THERAPY.

Tracie Banister

My Review: So many first for me with this book, reading this author and having such strong opinions about the main character, Izzy Alvarez, mostly dislike loathing, and contempt. Not really sure if I wanted to continue reading the story. Then I stopped and thought about my reactions and have to say if anyone could get me to react this way that is some damn good writing to invoke all those emotions.  So I continued reading and have to say I’m very glad I did, not that Izzy redeemed herself or her qualities (lack of) but she became more of a human being when she stopped trying so hard. This also reminded me of an old colleague, also Cuban-American and her ideas of getting a second husband (smiles). Tracie gave us some great one-liners, some laugh-out-loud moments, and some food for thought, especially if you have strong reactions to characters. Thank you so much for allowing me to read your work. ****
